Department Head's Statement

All praise due to Allah, the Cherisher of the world, and peace and blessing be upon the Prophet of Allah, his family and all his companions.

Education is responsible for the development and changes towards the future of society and the country. Based on the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, focusing on the student achieving excellence, creativity and decision-making, the Physics Department needed to upgrade the performance level, achieve quality, and provide an effective educational environment for students to achieve excellence and leadership. The emphasis was on the acquisition of practical skills and knowledge. Furthermore, activating participation, graduation projects, and classroom and extra-curricular activities that could lead to innovation, self-realisation, and consolidation of the values of citizenship.

As part of the efforts to improve the educational process, the Department of Physics was the first to apply for academic accreditation for the Bachelor's Program in Physics. Emphasis on realising the department's vision, mission, and goals, achieving distinguished outputs, contributing to the community and national service, and keeping pace with the scientific renaissance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Department of Physics annual report raises the academic year 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 AD, including classroom and extra-curricular events and activities, lectures, workshops, and community service. This embodies the knowledge, scientific, research and community service to reach the highest achievements.

I also wish to thank all the staff participating in the committees that have successfully activated their roles and our male and female students for their interaction and distinguished participation in achieving the goals and the great success. Thanks to the Deanship of the College of Science and the University Administration for their generous support and active assistance with the department.

May God bless the Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his Companions, pray for them and keep them safe.

About the department

At its third meeting for the academic year 1435-1436 AH held on 2014/12/29, The Northern Border University Council approved the study plan for the developed Physics Program.

Since then, Physics Department has been building strong and diverse teaching bases and research programs with experienced and competent faculty members.

The primary goal of the programs is to prepare graduates who can continue postgraduate studies, go into educational institutions and research centres,  join industrial establishments in multiple fields at the local, regional and international levels, or be leading researchers.

The Department has about 17 faculty members who conduct theoretical and experimental research in various fields, which includes a wide range of disciplines in Physics, most notably Theoretical Physics, Polymer Physics, Metallurgical Physics, Advanced Material Physics, Nuclear, and radiation, as well as seven technicians in the Department's labs. The Department of Physics is continuously developing by growing the number of students and by periodically developing laboratories and studies. plans
